Women take on CCAA leader Humboldt St.

Coyotes are 6-3 overall, 2-2 in CCAA; Sonoma St. comes in Saturday

Sophomore Emily Vore came up with season-high 10 points and four rebounds in win over Cal State Stanislaus last Sunday.
    Cal State San Bernardino will try and cool off a streaking Humboldt State team Friday night and then take on Sonoma State Saturday night in the first CCAA home basketball games of 2010. 
    The Coyotes enter the weekend with a 6-3 record (2-2 in the CCAA) following last weekend's split in Northern California, losing to Chico State 78-51 and beating Cal State Stanislaus 75-66. 
    Humboldt State enters the weekend unbeaten in the CCAA at 6-0 and leading the conference by a half-game over UC San Diego. The Jacks are 8-2 overall. Sonoma State comes to town with a record of 3-3 in conference play, 5-6 overall. 
    COYOTES VS. HSU – The Lady Lumberjacks lead the series 4-3, thanks to three wins over CSUSB in 2008-09 including a 67-57 decision in the CCAA conference tournament semifinals in Coussoulis Arena last March. The Jacks have won the last four in a row dating back to 2007-08. 
    COYOTES VS. SSU – CSUSB leads the series 13-11 and has captured three of the last four meetings. 
    YOTES NOTES – CSUSB ranks fourth in the CCAA in scoring at 63.3 points a game…the team is No. 2 in 3-point field goal percentage (.329) and No. 1 in 3-point FG percentage defense, limiting opponents to just 23.7 percent from long range…..Coyotes are No. 2 in assists (15.8/game) and No. 4 in steals (9.8/game) and rank No. 2 in turnover margin (plus 5.2) and are No. 1 in assist-turnover ratio (1.0)…..strangely, the team is 12th in defensive rebounding (21.8/game) but No. 2 in offensive rebounding (15.0/game)….Krystal Urzua is the CCAA leader in scoring (18.6 ppg) and No. 1 in 3-pointers made (3.3/game) and No. 2 in 3-point FG percentage (.462)…..she is fifth in steals (2.2/game) and No.7 in free throw percentage (.760)….in her last five games, Urzua has averaged 17.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.6 apg and 3.0 spg……Kymberly Ooten is No. 5 in the CCAA in field goal percentage (.471)….Lisa Takata is No. 2 in the CCAA in assists (3.8/game) while Ashlee Ford is No. 5 at 2.9/game…..Tiara Richardson is No. 9 in rebounding at 6.4/game…. 
    JACKS TRACK – Brittney Taylor, an all-CCAA first-team pick in 2008-09, leads the team in scoring at 17.3 ppg and is averaging 6.8 rebounds a game with 16 blocked shots and 26 steals. 
    SEAWOLF SNIPPET – SSU's leading scorer is Stephanie Barnes, a transfer from CSUSB, who is averaging 9.0 points a game and 4.8 rebounds a game with 15 assists and 11 steals….
