Sports Performance Philosophy

Our constantly evolving philosophy has been molded through education, collaboration, personal experience, and the countless student-athletes who have enhanced our program over the years. Our focus is to ensure that every student-athlete has the opportunity to reach their full potential personally, academically, professionally, and athletically.

In collaboration with the sports medicine team, coaching staff, student-athletes, and campus partners, we take a holistic approach when designing the programs for our student-athletes. Our programs have a systematic approach that starts with an Athletic Development Screening, addresses fundamental movements, corrective exercises, breathing, rehabilitation, preventative maintenance, nutrition, mental health, and recovery. This systematic approach allows us to meet the needs of the student-athletes at their current fitness and ability levels, while focusing on improvement in every facet.

We leverage data-driven metrics to meet the unique needs of each student-athlete and sport, enhance our programs, and drive injury resiliency. We foster the "pack" mentality, understand strength in numbers, and the importance of team unity that will contribute to establishing and maintaining a championship culture. Individualized programs are delivered in a team environment setting. Our ultimate goal is to build not only stronger and faster student-athletes, but to also empower them to be confident, educated, and resilient individuals prepared for success in both sport and life.

We believe in an evidence-based approach to periodization that is tailored towards health and skill-related components of fitness, while targeting the appropriate energy systems. Our programs address strength, endurance, body composition, flexibility, mobility, stability, power, speed, and agility to ensure that all of the necessary qualities of athletic performance are accounted for. We prescribe ground-based, multi-planar movements through a variety of exercises to prepare our student-athletes for competition. We prioritize movement quality and proficiency to ensure that our student-athletes are able to perform optimally at all times, while also reducing the risk of injury.

Our staff strives to make a positive impact on the life of each and every student-athlete. Working with them in the weight room is just one avenue through which we get that opportunity. We can be found engaging with the student-athletes at competitions, practices, campus events, and in the classroom. This strengthens our relationship with the student-athletes by creating countless opportunities to positively impact all facets of their lives.
