Laura was the first CSUSB track & field student-athlete to compete in the NCAA Division II national championship meet when she qualified in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 2016. The following fall, Laura set a high bar for her sport at CSUSB, winning five individual meet titles, including the CCAA championship 6K run in a record time of 20:55.95. She then won the NCAA West Regional, then earned USTFCCCA All-American honors. In the spring of 2017, she set four school records, and was named All-CCAA in the 5,000 meters, finishing third in 16:53.56. She was voted the CSUSB Female Athlete of the Year in 2017, and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
