SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team competed Friday in the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by CCAA rival Cal State San Marcos.
Junior
Joace Warrior (Colton, Calif.) had another strong outing for the Coyotes, opening the day by placing second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.27 seconds, good for #3 on the all-time top-10 list for the Coyotes. She would later place second in the long jump as well, leaping 5.47 meters.Â
The Coyote relay teams both finished in the top five of their respective events. The teams, comprised of freshman
La Sheau Hayden (Bakersfield, Calif.), junior
Rymiyah Pringle-Hamilton (Oakland, Calif.), junior
Coryssa Hope (Moreno Valley, Calif.), and
Cierra Ellis (Eastvale, Calif.) for both events, finished fourth in the 4x100 at 47.64 seconds and fifth in the 4x400 at 3:56.23.
A pair of Yotes were in the top four of the 200 meter dash, with Hope in third at 25.08 seconds and Pringle-Hamilton just behind in fourth at 25.37 seconds. Pringle-Hamilton was also the top Coyote in the 100 meter dash, placing sixth at 12.67 seconds, less than a tenth of a second ahead of seventh place Hayden at 12.73 seconds.
Rounding out the sprinters was Ellis, the top Coyote finisher in the 400 meter with a time of 59.83 seconds.
Middle distance runner
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) had a pair of solid performances on the day, led by her third place finish in the 800 at 2:15.81. She was also ninth in the 1,500 meter at 4:47.20.
Senior
Aiyana Allen-Jefferson (Riverside, Calif.) was the top CSUSB finisher in the 400 meter hurdles. She placed 15th in the event at 1:12.15.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, junior
Yoselin Canseco (San Bernardino, Calif.) had a massive PR of 11:45.39 to move up to seventh on the CSUSB all-time list, the top Coyote mark of the season in the event. She was followed closely by senior
Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.), who crossed the line in 12:18.16.
Rounding out CSUSB's marks on the track were 5,000 meter runner
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.) who led the Yotes at 19:02.73 and 10,000 meter runner
Diana Vera (Colton, Calif.), who moved to number nine on the all-time list at 41:32.16.
CSUSB had two throwers in the top nine of the shot put, paced by sophomore
Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.), who placed third at 12.51 meters. In ninth was junior
Kennedi Jones (San Diego, Calif.) at 10.81 meters.
In the hammer, sophomore
Madi Gutierrez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) had a huge PR of 41.72 meters to lead the Coyotes and jump all the way up to sixth on the all-time list. She was followed by senior
Melissa Fongod (Corona, Calif.), who recorded a toss of 39.57 meters.
Also moving into seventh on the all-time list was senior
Alanah Harvard (Victorville, Calif.) in the triple jump, leaping 10.20 meters.
Rounding out the Coyote field athletes were top finishers
Mar'Azanae Townsend (San Diego, Calif.) at 1.55 meters in the high jump and senior
Miranda Owen (San Bernardino, Calif.) at 39.02 meters in the discus.
CSUSBÂ will head back to San Diego next weekend to run the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego on Friday and Saturday.Â
