CLAREMONT, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team competed Saturday in the 30th Rossi Relays, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Junior
Joace Warrior (Colton, Calif.) had a strong showin for the second weekend in a row for the Coyotes with a pair of fifth place finishes. She moved into third on the all-time Coyote list with her time of 14.48 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, while also placing fifth in the long jump at 5.38 meters.
Also moving into third place on the Coyotes all-time performance list was the sprint medley relay team. The quartet of
La Sheau Hayden (Bakersfield, Calif.),
Rymiyah Pringle-Hamilton (Oakland, Calif.),
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), and
Cierra Ellis (Eastvale, Calif.) combined for a time of 1:47.97 to place third in their event.
Two other relay teams moved into the top-10 lists in their respective events as well. The 4x400 meter squad of Ellis, Pringle-Hamilton,
Jasmine Jaramillo (Lakewood, Calif.), and Hope placed sixth in their event at 3:57.47 to move into the number 10 spot, while the 4x800 meter team of
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.),
Julia Fernandez (Indio, Calif.),
Lily Deaton (Menifee, Calif.), and
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.) placed ninth to move to the number five spot.
Junior
Mar'Azanae Townsend (San Diego, Calif.) lept onto two top-10 lists on Saturday. In the triple jump, she recorded her best jump as a Yote at 9.86 meters to move to seventh, while her high jump of 1.44m was good for the 10th spot on CSUSB's all-time list.
Sophomore
Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.) was the top Coyote in a pair of throwing events. In the shot put, Frank placed fifth with a heave of 12.42 meters, followed by junior
Kennedi Jones (San Diego, Calif.) with a toss of 11.22 meters for 11th. Frank placed 12th in the hammer at 42.25 meters, with senior
Melissa Fongod (Corona, Calif.) throwing 39.36 meters and sophomore
Madi Gutierrez (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) notching a throw of 37.15 meters.
Jones rounded out the throwers as the top Yote finisher in the discus. Her toss of 36.04 meters tied for 10th on the Coyote all-time list and placed 11th in the event.
Next up for the Coyotes, they will take part in Friday's RCC Invitational at Wheelock Stadium.
