SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's cross country team competed Saturday morning in the Cougar Challenge on the campus of Cal State San Marcos.
For the second weekend in a row, senior Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) was the top CSUSB finisher. She placed 15th overall with a 6k time of 21:38.4, besting her 6k PR by 47 seconds.Â
Freshman Julia Fernandez (Indio, Calif.) was the second Yote to cross the finish line, finishing 46th with a run of 22:34.9. She was followed closely by junior Yoselin Canseco (San Bernardino, Calif.) at 22:47.0, whose 49-second PR was the largest by any Coyote on the day.
The fourth Coyote finisher was senior Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.), who placed 72nd at 23:10.9, followed seven and a half seconds later by junior Hailey Lynk (Banning, Calif.).
Rounding out the Coyote scorers were freshman Lily Deaton (Menifee, Calif.) at 23:32.4 and junior Diana Vera (Colton, Calif.), who ran a 43-second PR of 23:41.1.
The Yotes will be off next weekend, before making the short trip to the UCR Invitational on September 27.Â
