CHICO, Calif. - The California State Univeristy San Bernardino women's cross country team competed Friday morning in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships, hosted by Chico State at Hooker Oak Recreation Area at Bidwell Park, placing eighth overall.
Senior
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) was the top Coyote finisher on the day. She ran the 6k course in a time of 22:13.9 to place 14th overall, good for a spot on the CCAA All-Conference Team. Marroquin is the first Coyote to be named All-CCAA in women's cross country since Alexis Wallace in 2022.
CSUSB's second and third finishers crossed the line back to back. Junior
Yoselin Canseco (San Bernardino, Calif.) was second at 24:03.4 to finish 58th overall, while senior
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.) was 59th at 24:17.7
Reigning CCAA Runner of the Week
Lily Deaton (Menifee, Calif.) crossed the line in 67th place, the fourth Coyote finisher, with a time of 24:32.2, while
Liana Brehm (Menifee, Calif.) was fifth for the Yotes, placing 73rd after a run of 24:47.4.
Rounding out the scorers for the Coyotes were seniors
Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.), who placed 75th at 24:56.2, and
Ximena Martinez (San Bernardino, Calif.), who placed 78th at 25:10.5.
Next, the Coyotes will compete in the NCAA West Regional Championships on November 8 at Ash Creek Reserve in Monmouth, Ore.
