CLAREMONT, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's cross country team competed Saturday morning in the 6k Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
Leading the way for the Yotes was senior
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.), who placed eighth overall in the field of 227. She ran a 6k time of 22:02.4, nearly two minutes faster than when she ran the same course as a freshman in 2022.
Junior
Yoselin Canseco (San Bernardino, Calif.) was the second Coyote across the line, running a time of 23:39.1 to finish 6th overall. She was followed by senior
Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.), who ran a time of 23:48.5 for a 78th place finish. Avila's time was over two minutes faster than when she ran the same race three seasons ago.
The fourth Coyote across the finish line was junior
Hailey Lynk (Banning, Calif.). She ran a time of 24:12.6, seven and a half seconds ahead of Cal State San Bernardino freshman
Julia Fernandez (Indio, Calif.).Â
Three Coyotes rounded out the point-scorers, finishing consecutively and separated by just 1.3 seconds. Freshman
Lily Deaton (Menifee, Calif.) narrowly led the back at 24:35.1, followed by junior
Liana Brehm (Menifee, Calif.) at 24:36.0 and senior
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.) at 24:36.4.
The Yotes will be off next weekend before running in their regular season finale at the Highlander Invitational on October 18.
