CRESTWOOD, Ill. - Former Cal State San Bernardino standout Daryl Ruiz has signed a professional contract with the Windy City ThunderBolts of the Frontier League.

The league, one of the most prominent independent baseball leagues in North America, features 18 teams, primarily located in the Midwest and Northeast, along with a handful of clubs based in Canada. 

Despite its status as an independent organization, the Frontier League is a partner league of Major League Baseball, collaborating with them on numerous initiatives such as marketing and promotion and rules experimentation.

Ruiz enjoyed a stellar career at Cal State San Bernardino, where he earned All-Conference honors twice and was named an All-American. He played a key role in the Coyotes' historic 2023 season, helping lead the team to its first-ever appearance in the College World Series. He also set numerous career program records throughout the 2025 season.
