PUEBLO, Colo. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team opened the NCAA Division II Championships on Thursday evening at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl, competing in three events. 

The 4x100 meter relay team punched their ticket to the finals with a huge school record of 44.27 seconds, finishing second in their heat to automatically qualify for the final. The team of Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.), Amari Weatherford (Southeast San Diego, Calif.), Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), and Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.) was not beaten in heat number two, and the Yotes will go into Saturday's final with the second fastest qualifying time.

Senior Alexis White (San Bernardino, Calif.) fell short of qualifying for the finals in the 400 despite a strong run of 53.98 seconds. She finished 14th overall in her race, and fourth in her heat.

One Coyote will compete in Saturday's final in the 100-meter dash. In the first heat, Hunt received an automatic qualification with a run of 11.27 seconds to place second in her heat and fifth overall. 

The Yotes will compete in two more preliminaries on Friday, the 200-meter at 4:30 p.m. Pacific and 4x400-meter at 6:50 p.m. Pacific.
