SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - California State University San Bernardino women's cross country opened its 2026 season on Saturday by hosting the Coyote Challenge.
The Coyotes placed eighth in the 14-team field, and were led by senior
Yoselin Canseco. Canseco ran the 6k course in a time of 22:29.6 to place 45th overall in the field of 183.
The second Yote across the line was freshman
Aracelly Guzman Zamudio, running in her first collegiate race and placing 63rd with a run of 22:53.8. Another freshman finished just 10 seconds behind Guzman Zamudio to be CSUSB's third finisher, as
Mia Miramontes placed 69th overall at 23:03.3.
CSUSB's fourth finisher was senior
Natalie Brazfield in 76th place at 23:08.9, before
Arianna Lupian placed 87th at 23:39.9
Rounding out the Coyote scorers were juniors
Aliya Hester and
Celeste Mendoza, who placed 92nd and 93rd respectively at 23:48.2 and 23:50.7.
After the race, 10 CSUSB seniors were joined by their friends and families for Senior Day. Canseco, Brazfield,
Hailey Lynk,
Amanda Lynch,
Diana Vera,
Liana Brehm,
Lali Gomez Diego,
Ximena Torres,
Jordan Dennert, and
Kasey Plumb were honored in the post-race ceremony.
