FRESNO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team competed Saturday in the West Coast Relays, hosted by Fresno State.
One school record fell on Saturday, when senior
Kyndahl Carter (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted a time of 13.90 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles. She is the first CSUSB student-athlete to ever go under 14 seconds in the event. It is also the fastest time in Division II so far this season.
In the 100-meter dash, four Coyotes finished among the top 13 runners, led by third-place finisher, graduate student
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.). She ran a time of 11.84 seconds. Carter placed eighth overall at 12.30, while
Sierra Stokes (Carson, Calif.) placed 12th at 12.46 seconds and
Mahlaya Salter (Chino, Calif.) was 12th at 12.61 seconds.
The Yotes notched a top-10 finish in the 200 meter dash, where freshman
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.) placed ninth at 25.19 seconds.
In the 400 meter run, junior
Na'kel Pennix (Redlands, Calif.) was ninth at 56.79 seconds, while
Prishencia Nnoham (Palmdale, Calif.) was 11th.
In the 800 meter run,
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.)Â was seventh overall at 2:26.03 in the event, while classmate
Brianna Johnson (Gardena, Calif.) placed 12th at 2:29.10.
Helena Valdez was CSUSB's top finisher in the 1,500 meter run, with a time of 4:54.42.
Rounding out CSUSB's track results was the 4x100 relay team of Ackerman, Carter, Hope, and junior
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.). The quartet recorded a time or 45.75 in their event, placing third overall with an NCAA Division II Provisional Mark.
In field events,
Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.), got the top CSUSBÂ time with a sixth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters. In the long jump, CSUSB's top finisher was freshman
Hannah Luster (Roseville, Calif.), who posted a 10th place finish at 5.09 meters.
Senior
Mayra Mejia Haller (Fontana, Calif.) was also 10th in the shot put at 10.87 meters. Rounding out CSUSB's scores were sophomores
Melissa Fongod (Corona, Calif.) and
Miranda Owen (San Bernardino, Calif.), who placed sixth and ninth respectively in the shot put at 40.31 and 36.15 meters.
The Coyotes will be off next weekend before returning to action at Stanislaus State and UC San Diego on April 4, 5, and 6.
