ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team has swept this week's CCAA weekly awards.
The sprint medley relay team of
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.),
Amari Weatherford (Southeast San Diego, Calif.),
Alexis White (San Bernardino, Calif.), and
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.) was named collectively the CCAA Track Athletes of the Week, while freshman thrower
Gianna Frank (Hoquaim, Wash.) was tabbed the Field Athlete of the Week.
The relay team combined to shatter an NCAA Division II record in the 800-meter sprint medley relay with a time of 1:42.04 on Saturday at the Rossi Relays. The time was over two seconds faster than the mark set three years ago by Fresno Pacific (1:44.07). That record-setting time won the event.
The quartet also won the 4x100-meter relay with an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 45.52. It is the second-fastest time in Div. II this season.
Frank broke the CSUSB school record in the shot put with a throw of 12.95 meters. The distance is nearly a meter better than the previous school record of 12.01 meters, set by Dani Lister last season. She is now ranked No. 2 on the NCAA Div. II performance list after the opening weekend
This was the first FloCollege/CCAA Women's Track Athletes of the Week award of the 2025 season. Last season, White, Ackerman, and Hunt each captured CCAA Track Athlete of the Week honors as individuals. This is the first time since 2014 that a relay team has been given the CCAA weekly honor.
The Coyotes will be back in action this weekend at the RCC Invitational in Riverside (Feb. 28).Â
