CSUSB finished 4th overall as a team at the prestigious Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. - With the sun out and the wind blowing, the CSUSB Yotes took advantage of the rarely seen good weather this season and went to rewriting the CSUSB record books in pristine fashion.

Hailey Hunt competed in four events on the day and proceeded to set CSUSB School records in all four events. Starting the day off with the 4x100m relay, the team of Mahlaya Salter, Hailey Hunt, Sariyah Copeland, and Alexis White for the fifth time this season reset the record in a time of 46.40. This mark is currently second in the conference and is nearly 1.5 seconds ahead of 3rd best Chico State in the event.

Later in the day, she competed in the 100m and ran a season's best time of 11.99, becoming the first CSUSB athlete to break the 12 second barrier. Alexis White competed in the 100m as well clocking in a time of 12.39, good for 6th all time at CSUSB. In the 200m the Yotes in addition to Hunt saw several season's and personal bests. Hunt crossing the line in 24.37 and White in 24.58 puts them first and third overall in school history and puts 3 Yotes in the top 5 in the CCAA along with Sariyah Copeland's 24.48 ran earlier this season.

The team of Payton McCartney, Alexis White, Hailey Hunt, and Sierra Stokes ran the last race of the day that shattered the school's previous record In a time of 3:52.21, they bested the previous school's record by over 5 seconds and put a full 2 second gap on the third place team in the CCAA of Chico State in the event.

"It felt really good to break four records, I had to stay patient and trust my training and trust my coach and have faith in myself. Going into the championships I feel competent about what we can do when the time comes, and we get to crunch time. I have faith in my teammates and trust us to compete well." – Hailey Hunt

Journie Alexander, who came into the day leading the CCAA in the Long Jump, made her presence known with her last attempt coming in at a new school record of 5.62m (18'5.25"). This placed her 5th overall and was the top CCAA finisher at the meet.

"Today I competed well, going into this meet my legs were feeling fresh, I came into long jump with a good head space and I ended up setting a personal record on 3 different jumps. I think I can definitely take first place going into the championships, my mental state is what helped me compete to the best of my abilities today."  - Journie Alexander
