SEASIDE, Calif. – Graduate student
Alexis Wallace won for the second time this season, leading the Cal State San Bernardino women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the 6K CCAA Preview Meet/Otter Invitational in nearby Carmel Valley.
Wallace, who won the 5K Coyote Challenge on Sept. 10, finished the 6K course in 22.10.7. Teammate
Joanna Lopez was fourth in 23:23.7. Three other Coyote runners placed in the top 15.
Host Cal State Monterey Bay, a second place finisher at the Coyote Challenge, took the team title with 23 points. CSUSB finished with 41 points followed by San Francisco State with 67.
Wallace, who set a personal best time in the 5K last week, improved her personal best time in the 6K Saturday with a 22:10.7 clocking. Her previous best mark was a 22:57.8 in her senior year at University of Redlands in 2021.
Wallace's time was good enough to move her into 10
th place all-time in Coyote 6K history.
Kai Marroquin of CSUSB finished 11
th in 24:33.1, followed by
Nicole Renteria in 13
th place at 24:42.7 and
Miranda Avila in 14
th spot in 24:47.4.;
