SEASIDE, Calif. – The CSUSB men's golf team placed sixth in the Otter Invitational on Tuesday, finishing +24. Only one of the 18 teams in the tournament shot below par, that being Barry University with a score of -8 while also finishing in first place.
The Yotes placed fourth out of fellow CCAA schools, with host school Cal State Monterey Bay finishing the highest in the conference at second overall - shooting three-over par.
"We had a tough week up in Monterey on a VERY difficult golf course. Our guys did not have their best performance, but we are learning more every day about where we need to improve. The Fall season gives us the opportunity to evaluate our games under pressure and better prepare for the spring season. Mark Williams once again placed highest for the Yotes, shooting 74, 73, and 74 for a total of 221 swings. Overall, he finished five-over par to tie for 26
th place.
Brian Nielsen and
Jetty Sivongsay finished close behind Williams, shooting +6 and +7 respectively. Nielsen turned in the best single-round for the Yotes in the event, finishing at an even 72-par in the first round.
Senior
Jacob Calderon also finished at +12 while sophomore
Cole Obrigewitcsh finished at +14.

The Yotes will travel to the Aloha State for a pair of events next week. First, they will take part in the HPU Sharks Shootout on Tuesday, October 25
th, through Wednesday, October 26
th, at Leilehua Golf Course. They will then compete in the Dennis Rose Invitational on Friday, October 28
th, through Saturday, October 29
th, at the Waikaloa Beach Golf Course.
