BOULDER CITY, Nev. - For the first time since 2009, the California State University San Bernardino men's golf team has advanced to the match play portion of the NCAA Division II Championships.
The Coyotes shot three-under par in the final round of stroke play Wednesday to advance to the national quarterfinal on Thursday morning.
Sophomore Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) shot CSUSB's low round of the day with a two-under 70, finishing the tournament at three over.
Juniors Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) and Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.) each shot one-under 71s in the final round, and shot four-under for the tournament.
Sophomore Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) rounded out stroke play with a one-over 73 to finish at a team-best five strokes under par. His key up-and-down from the bunker on 18 helped the Coyotes secure the seven seed in match play.
The Coyotes will face Missouri-St. Louis in the national quarterfinal on Thursday morning. With a win, they will play in the national semifinal in the afternoon, with the national championship match slated for Friday morning. The five players from each team will be paired against each other, with the first team to win three matches advancing to the next round.
