BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team shot 12 strokes under par on Tuesday at round two of the NCAA Championships, moving all the way up into sixth heading into Wednesday's final round of stroke play.
The Coyotes began the day at five-over and it a tie for 16th place, but the big surge now sees them at seven-under for the tournament, five shots above the cut line for match play.
Junior
Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.) rebounded from a first-hole double bogey to shoot CSUSB's low round of the day with a six-under 66. He did not put another bogey on the scorecard, making six birdies and eagling the par-5 16th en route to the 66. He shot a 30 on the back-nine.Â
Sophomore
Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) shot a three-under 69 for the second consecutive day to move to six under for the tournament and a tie for fifth place on the individual leaderboard. He made a pair of birdies on each nine, and also carded an eagle on the lengthy par-5 16th.
Junior
Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) buried six birdies on the day to shoot a two-under 70. After his 71 on Monday, he sits tied with Hopson in 15th place on the tournament leaderboard at -3.
Rounding out the Coyote scorers on Tuesday was sophomore
Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.). He made four birdies on the day, getting into the red for the day by birdieing two of his final three holes.
The Yotes will go off in the second to last wave on Wednesday for the third and final round of the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships. The first Coyote tee time is slated for 12:16 p.m. If they finish in the top eight in the field, they will advance to the match play portion, playing in the national quarterfinal on Thursday morning.
