LAS VEGAS – 2019 First Team All-American and CCAA Freshman of the Year
Frank Daroma recently signed a contract with the Las Vegas Lights, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Football Club of Major League Soccer.
He recently competed in training camp with LAFC and will compete initially for the Lights of the United Soccer League Championship, which is just below the MLS in the United States Soccer Pyramid.
Daroma led CSUSB to their best season in program history in 2019, finishing top-five in the nation after two NCAA Tournament wins. Daroma scored four goals with five assists, playing 1417 minutes in the midfielder position.
He represents the first member of the program under coach
Darren Leslie to sign a professional USL deal.
"It is with great excitement that we congratulate 2019 All-American and CSUSB standout student-athlete
Frank Daroma on signing his first professional contract with the Las Vegas Lights," Leslie said. "Frank was an enormous part of our run to a fifth place finish in 2019, and while he will be missed by the coaches and teammates, we could not be more proud of his accomplishment. This is just another notch for our program which has grown into a perennial CCAA contender in recent years and become a home for young men to pursue a degree while being pushed to their full potential on the field. We are delighted to have been a small part in Frank's development as a young man and professional level soccer player."
A diminutive midfielder originally from Sierra Leone who grew up in Goleta and played for the Barça Academy in Arizona, Daroma was a United Soccer Coaches All-American in 2019 with the Yotes.
Las Vegas Lights FC are one month away from starting their 2021 USL Championship season.
