Kymberly Ooten scored all 16 of her points in the second half Saturday night, fueling a surge by Cal State San Bernardino that led to a 61-46 non-conference women's basketball victory over San Diego Christian College.
Ooten, who scored 16 points and had nine rebounds in a Tuesday night win over Hope International, hit eight of 14 field goal attempts, pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in just 16 minutes of playing time after a scoreless first half in which she missed all four field goal attempts and played just five minutes.
The victory improved the Coyotes to 2-0 on the season while the Hawks fell to 2-4.

Krystal Urzua had 11 points, two blocked shots and three steals for CSUSB while senior point guard
Ashlee Ford had 10 points and two steals. Junior guard
Lisa Takata had seven assists, four rebounds and six points off the bench. Junior
Tiara Richardson contributed seven rebounds and six points.
Torreya Edwards led the Hawks with 16 points and three assists. Camille Cooper, who scored 19 in a win over Cal State L.A., was held to just seven points, connecting on only three of 15 shots from the field. Thalia Benjamin had a team-high six rebounds for the Hawks.
After a cold-shooting first half in which both teams combined for 28 points – a 14-14 tie, each team warmed to the occasion in the final 20 minutes scoring a combined 79 points. CSUSB outscored the visitors 47-32.
CSUSB shot just 18 percent in the first half but shot 64 percent in the second (18 of 28) to finish at 39 percent for the game. The Hawks were six for 30 in the first half and finished 19 for 63 (30 percent).
The Coyotes took a 5-2 lead early at the 14:51 mark of the first half and neither team scored again until Edwards hit a jumper for the Hawks at the 8:36 mark.
Cal State opened up an 11-point lead on Ooten's jumper with 8:38 left in the game. SDCC crept back to within seven at 47-40 on another Edwards jumper, but the Coyotes pulled away to lead by 11 again with 2:06 remaining on two free throws by Ford.
CSUSB opens the CCAA conference season next Friday at home against defending CCAA champion UC San Diego.
