LOS ANGELES -- Homers by Johnnie Haas, Jason Klug and Drew Valenzuela provided the sock and Kevin Wilson provided the pitching Friday as Cal State San Bernardino defeated Cal State L.A., 7-2, to even their CCAA baseball series at a game apiece.
    The two teams wind up the four-game set with a doubleheader at noon Saturday at Fiscalini Field, Highland and Harrison streets in San Bernardino.
    The victory improved CSUSB to 23-20 on the season and 14-16 in the CCAA while the Golden Eagles are now 20-20 overall and 14-11 in the conference.
    Haas was two-for-four at the plate with an RBI, his sixth homer of the season, raising his batting average to .387. Klug was three-for-four with three runs scored and an RBI, his 10th homer of the season, raising his average to .357. He leads CSUSB in home runs and RBI (56).
    Valenzuela homered for the second time in two days in the 12-hit Coyotes attack against losing pitcher John Mitchell (5-4) and two relievers. Justin Watson also had three hits for CSUSB and drove in a pair of runs.
    Wilson went 7.2 innings for the Coyotes, scattering seven hits and allowing one earned run while striking out six and walking two to even his record at 4-4.
    CSUSB went up 2-0 in the second inning on a leadoff double by Klug, a single by Chris LeFay, an RBI single by Watson and a sacrifice fly by right-fielder Andrew Tapia.
    L.A cut the margin to 2-1 in the third when Kenny Shanahan and Devon Ramirez singled and advanced a base on an error followed by a run-scoring groundout by Nico Moreno.
    CSUSB made it 4-1 in the fourth as Haas and Klug hit back-to-back homers off Mitchell.
    The Coyotes added a fifth run in the sixth  on Watson's RBI single after Klug had doubled.
    L.A. got a run back in the eighth on a walk, a single by Max Moya and Tyler Warmerdam's RBI base hit.
    In the CSUSB ninth, with reliever Ryan Plum on the hill, Valenzuela greeted him with a home run to right center. Then Watson singled and Tapia doubled him to third where he later scored on an error to make it 7-2.
    Michael Leal came out of the bullpen to get the last out in the eighth and allowed one hit in the ninth before getting Moreno to ground out to end the game.
