STOCKTON, Calif. - For the second consecutive year, the California State University San Bernardino men's golf team is headed back to the NCAA National Championship Tournament.
The Coyotes held on despite their worst round of the NCAA West/South Central Regional to return back to the NCAA Finals, shooting 14-over par on Saturday to finish the tournament at +4. They finished one shot above the cut line to clinch their spot in Boulder City, Nevada in nine days.
A one-over par 73 from sophomore
Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) was the best Coyote round on Saturday. His back-to-back birdies on the par-3 15th and par-5 16th were key in helping the Coyotes across the finish line and return to nationals.
Sophomore
Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) turned in a three-over 75 in his final round to finish one-under for the tournament. He finished in a tie for 10th overall in the 108-player field, one of two Coyotes with top-10 finishes.
One shot better on the week was junior
Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.), who finished the tournament at two-under par after a 77 on Saturday. His birdie on the 18th hole helped the Coyotes avoid a three-team playoff for one spot at nationals.
Rounding out the Coyote scorers on Saturday was junior
Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan), who turned in a 77. He finished the tournament at seven over.
The NCAA National Finals will take place from May 18-22 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. More information on tee times and pairings will be posted on CSUSBAthletics.com in the coming days.
