STOCKTON, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team is just a shot off the pace at 10-under par with 18 holes remaining after competing in round two of the West/South Central Regional Friday at the Reserve at Spanos Park.
The Coyotes were dialed in on the front nine, with a team score of 12-under par on the opening nine alone, with 14 birdies and only two bogeys.
The Yotes led for the majority of the back nine, before they were plagued by a trio of double bogeys on the lengthy par-4 17th, to fall to one shot back.
Junior Kamron Hopson had CSUSB's low round of the day, shooting a six-under 66 on Friday. He shot a four-under 32 in the front nine without a bogey, before eagling the par-5 11th and birdieing the par-4 12th.
Sophomore Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) and junior Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) each shot two-under 70s. Both made three birdies without a bogey on the front nine, but combined for just one birdie on the back.
Rounding out the scorers for the Yotes on Friday was sophomore Mario Stump (Benicia, Calif.), who carded a two-over 74 in his second round.
The Yotes sit nine shots above the cut line for qualification into the NCAA National Championship heading into the final round. The first Coyote tee time on Saturday will be at 12:40 p.m. from Stockton.
