Men's Golf Falls in Three-Hole Playoff at CCAA Championships

STOCKTON, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team fell on the third playoff hole to Chico State Wednesday after the final round of the CCAA Championships at The Reserve at Spanos Park.

The Coyotes entered the round with a three-shot lead, but a tough back nine saw the team go to a playoff, where Chico State prevailed on the lengthy par-four 17th hole that caused fits for the Coyotes all week.

Sophomore Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) was the top Coyote finisher for the tournament, shooting two-under par overall to finish two shots off the pace and place second. He entered the final round tied for the lead and shot a two-over 74 on Wednesday. He made a key par on the ninth hole (his 18th) to force the playoff.

Sophomore Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) and junior Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) were each even par on Wednesday to finish the tournament at two-over, good for a tie for seventh place.

Rounding out the Coyote scorers for the tournament was junior Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.). He shot a four-over 76 on Wednesday to finish the tournament at five-over.

The Coyotes are still highly likely to secure an at-large bid to the NCAA West/South Central Regional, which is scheduled to be played at the same course from May 7-9.
