ALAMEDA, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team finished third out of 18 teams Tuesday as they competed in the final round of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park Golf Club.
The Coyotes had a team score of nine-under par in round one and three-over in round two. They capped the tournament with a score of four-under on Tuesday to finish the tourney at 10-under.
Junior
Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.) had CSUSB's best finish of the tournament, finishing at four-under par to place 11th. He opened the tournament with a five-under 67 in round one, before shooting a one-over 73 in round two and an even par 72 on Tuesday.
Sophomore
Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) also finished under par at the tournament, shooting one-under to place 22nd. After scores of 73 and 72 in rounds one and two, he rounded out the week with a two-under 70.
Sophomore
Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) and junior
Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) each finished the tournament at one-over, while graduate student
Jetty Sivongsay (Fullerton, Calif.) rounded out the scorers at +3.
The shot of the tournament came from sophomore
Mario Stump (Benicia, Calif.), playing in the tournament as an individual. Late in round two on Monday, Stump recorded a double-eagle 2 on the par-5 15th hole, holing out from 220 yards out.
The Coyotes will be off next week before hosting the Coyote Classic at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont on March 23 and 24.
