AKUMAL, Mexico - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team opened its season on Sunday with the opening round of the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya and sit in 11th place.
The top Coyote finisher was junior
Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.), who shot a four-over 76 to move into a tie for 16th place. He birdied the short par-5 fourth hole, as well as the 174-yard par-3 17th on the day.
Sophomore
Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) was two shots back of Hopson with a six-over 78. His only birdie came on the lengthy par-5 14th, measuring at 584 yards.
Freshman
Isaiah Kim (Porter Ranch, Calif.) shot an eight-over 80 in his first collegiate round to place third among the Yotes. His first birdie as a Coyote came on the par-4 13th.
Rounding out the scores for the Coyotes were junior
Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) and sophomore
Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.), who shot identical scores of 10-over par 82.
The Coyotes will tee off in round two on Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. Pacific time.
