RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team will begin play in the West/South Central Regional tomorrow at the Victoria Club in Riverside.
Leading the way for the Coyotes is senior John Kim (Palm Desert, Calif.), who is currently ranked as the second best golfer in the West Region and the 52nd-best golfer in Division II. He has five top-five finishes this season, including a -9 finish at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, a -8 finish at the Battle of the Desert, and a second-place finish at the CCAA Championships. Kim was also named to the All-CCAA First Team this season.
Junior Chris Wardrup (La Quinta, Calif.), who was one of the top golfers last season at the West/South Central Regional and qualified for the national tournament, will be a key part for the Yotes' success. He has two top-10 finishes this season, finishing ninth at the Oak Tree Invitational and seventh at the CCAA championships. His best score of the season was a -4 at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic.
CCAA Freshman of the Year Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) has three top-20 finishes this season, including two in which he shot par or under, finishing fifth place and an even par at the Sonoma Spring Invitational, a two-under par 16th place finish at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational. He also finished 12th at the CCAA championships.
Freshman Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) has had a solid year in his first year of collegiate competition. He posted two six-over rounds, one at the Battle of the Desert and the Las Vegas Desert Classic and an even-par finish at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic.
Graduate Student Jetty Sivongsay (Fullerton, Calif.) rounds out the field for CSUSB, and he has played better of late, as he posted his two best finishes in his last three tournaments, finishing two-over par at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic and a four-over at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.
