LA JOLLA, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team concluded the Triton Invitational on Saturday at UC San Diego.
The Coyotes had a pair of runner-up finishes on the day. The first came in the 4x100 meter relay, where
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.),
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.),
Amari Weatherford (Southeast San Diego, Calif.), and
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.) combined for a time fo 45.35 seconds to cross the line in second. Weatherford had the other second place finish in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 11.58 seconds. She was one of three Yotes in the top 16 spots in the event, joined by Hunt in 10th and Ackerman in 16th.
Junior
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) continued her strong season with an eighth place finish and a time of 2:15.67 in the 800-meter run. Classmate
Kasey Plumb (Mentone, Calif.) was 32nd in the event at 2:21.82, followed by
Ximena Martinez (San Bernardino, Calif.), who crossed the line in 2:26.24. Marroquin was also the top Coyote in the 1,500-meter, placing 24th at 4:48.47, while Martinez PRed at 5:00.97.
Three Coyotes were in the top 22 places of the 400-meter run. Hope was the leading Yote in 17th at 57.20 seconds, while junior
Cierra Ellis (Eastvale, Calif.) ran a big PR of 57.79 seconds to place 19th. Classmate
Briana Miller (San Bernardino, Calif.) rounded out the Coyote trio by running a time of 58.16 seconds.
In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman
Sauzhane Johnson (Victorville, Calif.) was the top Cal State San Bernardino runner, placing 38th with a time of 16.36 seconds.
Off the track, freshman
Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.) had a strong showin in the shot put, placing third overall at 13.04 meters, while
Liz Ghazanchian (Glendale, Calif.) was 16th overall in the discus throw with a toss of 40.11 meters.
Next up for the Coyotes, they will return to action on April 12 when they compete in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont.
