RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Another day, another school record for Cal State San Bernardino women's track & field.
Senior
Liz Ghazanchian (Glendale, Calif.) set the Cal State San Bernardino school record in the discus throw with a massive toss of 44.89 meters. The toss breaks the school record of 44,30 meters, set by
Dani Lister last season. Also in the diiscus, freshman
Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.) placed third at 34.09 meters.
Also in field events, the Coyotes had a pair of top-four finishes in the shot put, while Frank placed second at 13.14 meters, while senior
Mayra Mejia Haller (Fontana, Calif.) placing fourth at 11.31 meters.
Senior
Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) had a big day, as she was second in the javelin at 36.08 meters, sixth in the triple jup at 10.89 meters. Only senior Amari Weatherord (Southeast San Diego, Calif,) bested Weatherford, as the sprinter lept 5.52 meters.
On the track, the Yotes had a pair of event victories, led by the 4x100 meter relay team of
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.),
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), Weatherford, and
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.), who teamed up to finish in 45.75 seconds. White also set a meet record in the 400 meter run, finishing first at 54.03 seconds. In the same event, senior
Prishencia Nnoham (Palmdale, Calif.) placed fourth at 57.55 seconds.
Ackerman was the second place finisher in the 100 meter dash at 12.01 seconds, while freshman
Sauzhane Johnson (Victorville, Calif.) was third in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:08.16 and junior
Cierra Ellis (Eastvale, Calif.) was also third in the 200 meter at 25.06 seconds. She was followed closely by classmate
Aiyana Allen-Jefferson (Riverside, Calif.) at 26.32 seconds. Johnson was also fourth in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.31 seconds.
In distance events, CSUSB had three top-eight finishers in the 800 meter run, led by sophomore
Liana Brehm (Menifee, Calif.) in sixth at 2:31.94, and she was followed by classmate
Hailey Lynk (Banning, Calif.) in sevneth at 2:32.68. Finishing a blink of the eye behind Lynk was junior
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.) in eight at 2:32.71.
Rounding out the Coyote scorers was sophomore
Diana Vera (Colton, Calif.), who was the top Coyote finisher in the 5,000 meter, running a time of 20:11.46.
