SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team competed Friday at the Mangrum Invitational, hosted by CCAA foe Cal State San Marcos.

Junior Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) set her first CSUSB school record in the 800-meter run, running a time of 2:14.70, breaking a school record that had stood for eight years by eight hundredths of a second. The record-breaking time extends CSUSB's streak of setting a program record at every meet of the season to date.

The Coyotes had four first-place finishes on the day. Senior Amari Weatherford (Southeast San Diego, Calif.) factored into three of them, winning both the 100- (11.49 seconds, wind-aided) and 200-meter (23.64 seconds) dashes, and serving as a leg on the 4x100 (45.41 seconds) relay. The 4x400 relay team of Briana Miller (San Bernardino, Calif.), Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.) Prishencia Nnoham (Palmdale, Calif.), and Cierra Ellis (Eastvale, Calif.) won their event at 3:48.51. Joining Weatherford on the 4x100 were Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.), Hope, and Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.).

Also in the 100-meter dash, Ackerman placed third at a wind-aided 11.90 seconds, while four Coyotes were in the top-eight of the 200, with Ackerman placing fourth at 24.94, Ellis placing fifth at 24.98, and Hope placing eighth at 25.08.

Three Yotes comprised the top seven finishers in the 400-meter run. Nnoham was the top finisher at 58.53 seconds to place fifth, while Miller was sixth at 58.60 seconds and Ellis was seventh with a personal best of 58.99 seconds.

In other track events, sophomore Jordan Dennert (San Bernardino, Calif.) impressed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running a personal best of 11:18.54, good for third on the all-time CSUSB performance list. In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Sauzhane Johnson (Victorville, Calif.) was the 11th place finisher with a time of 16.06 seconds.

In jumping events, senior Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) posted a pair of top-nine finishes. She was seventh in the high jump with a PR of 1.57 meters, while finishing ninth in the long jump at 5.27 meters.

Senior Elizabeth Rushing (Oakdale, Calif.) was the top Yote in the hammer throw on Friday, recording a toss of 43.90 meters to place fourth overall. She was followed by ninth-place finisher Liz Ghazanchian (Glendale, Calif.), who threw 39.15 meters. Ghazanchian was also the top Coyote in the discus throw with a toss of 39.27 meters to place seventh.

Rounding out the top Coyote throwers were a trio of top-nine finishers combined in the shot put and javelin. Freshman Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.) was fourth in the shot put at 12.92 meters, while Mayra Mejia Haller (Fontana, Calif.) was ninth at 11.27 meters. Senior Jaclyn Brown (Simi Valley, Calif.) was seventh in the javelin at 31.88 meters.

The Coyotes will return to action for the two-day Triton Invitational at UC San Diego, starting next Friday in La Jolla.
