SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Two more school records fell for the California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team as the Coyotes wrapped up competition at the Hornet Invitational on Saturday at Sacramento State.
Senior
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.) broke her own school record in the 100-meter dash, running a time of 11.56 seconds to set the new school record by .1 second. For the fourth consecutive meet, freshman
Gianna Frank (Marysville, Wash.) broke her own school record, throwing a massive 13.79 meters to place seventh in the event.
Also in the 100-meter, senior
Amari Weatherford (Southeast San Diego, Calif.) was a one-hundredth of a second behind Hunt's school record time, placing fourth overall in the event at 11.57 seconds. Graduate student
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) was the third Coyote in the top-10 of the event, placing ninth at 11.81 seconds. In the shot put, senior
Mayra Mejia Haller (Fontana, Calif.) was 16th with a PR of 11.89 meters, the fourth longest toss in program history.
A pair of Coyote relay teams turned in impressive performances on the day. The 4x100 team of Ackerman,
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), Weatherford, and Hunt won their event at 45.26 seconds, while the 4x400 team of
Prishencia Nnoham (Palmdale, Calif.), Hope, Weatherford, and
Alexis White (San Bernardino, Calif.) was third at 3:41.95, the second fastest time in CSUSB history.
White also had a strong showing on her own in the 400-meter run, placing third overall in the event at 54.67 seconds. Other top performances by the Coyotes were distance runners
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.), who was the top CSUSB runner in the 1,500 with a huge PR of 4:47.96 to break into the top-10 performance list, and sophomore
Jordan Dennert (San Bernardino, Calif.), who won her heat and had a PR in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 11:40.82.
In the high jump,
Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) had a top-10 finish with a leap of 1.49 meters, while
Liz Ghazanchian (Glendale, Calif.) was the top Yote in the discus, placing 12th at 40.78 meters.
Next up for CSUSB, the Coyotes will return to action with a trip down to Cal State San Marcos for the Mangrum Invitational on Saturday, March 29. First events will take place at 10 a.m.
