SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team competed in two separate meets on Friday, closing the Stanislaus Multi and opening the UCSD Triton Invitational.
In Turlock, junior
Kaleigh Giannone (Menifee, Calif.) competed in events five through seven of the heptathlon. She finished the heptathlon placing fifth out of 11 competitors with 3,551. Her strongest showing came in the 100 meter hurdles on Thursday, where she posted a personal best time of 16.40 seconds.
In San Diego, junior
Liz Ghazanchian (Glendale, Calif.) had CSUSB's top placement with a 12th place finish in the discus throw with a toss of 38.61 meters. In the same event, sophomore
Melissa Fongod (Corona, Calif.) was 20th with a throw of 37.17 meters.
Junior
Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) set a personal best in the javelin by nearly three quarters of a meter, placing 19th with a toss of 31.33 meters. She was followed up by classmate
Jaclyn Brown (Simi Valley, Calif.), who was 24th at 28.59 meters.
Rounding out CSUSB's results was junior
Dani Lister (Lake Forest, Calif.), who placed 27th overall in the hammer throw at 39.68 meters.
The team will be back in action to close out the Triton Invitational on Saturday.
