BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team climbed into a tie for sixth place as the Coyotes closed out the Las Vegas Desert Classic Tuesday morning at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Yotes turned in a team score of -9 in the final round to finish the tournament at -1. They started the day in a tie for 10th.
Junior
John Kim (Palm Desert, Calif.) had a huge final round for the Coyotes, carding a seven-under 65. He posted seven birdies and no bogeys, which included birdies on four of the five par-4s on the front nine. He finished the tournament at -6 for the three days, tied for 10th place overall.
Sophomore
Chris Wardrup (La Quinta, Calif.) was three-under on Tuesday, shooting a 69 to be CSUSB's second finisher. He sunk five birdies on the day.
In third for San Bernardino was senior
Andres Navarro (Montebello, Calif.), who shot an even-par 72. Among the four holes birdied by Navarro on Tuesday was the par-4 sixth, playing at 440 yards, statistically the second-hardest hold to birdie in the tournament.
Senior
Cole Obrigewitsch (Deer Valley, Saskatchewan) was CSUSB's final scorer, posting a one-over 73. He had San Bernardino's only eagle of round three, a three on the par-5 13th hole.
Sophomore
Trent Fitzgerald (Santee, Calif.) turned in to two-over 74 to round out the Yotes.Â
CSUSB will have a few weeks off before returning to action at the 49th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational beginning on March 25 in Turlock, Calif.
