RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field team continued their season Friday afternoon as they competed in the RCC Invitational.

For the second week in a row, junior Dani Lister (Lake Forest, Calif.) broke a school record for the Yotes, this time in the shot put. She became the first Coyote to break the 12-meter barrier with a heave of 12.01 meters.

She also scored points for the Coyotes in the hammer throw, finishing seventh at 43.12 meters.

Two Coyotes scored points in three other field events. In the javelin, junior Jaclyn Brown (Simi Valley, Calif.) placed third with a toss of 29.27 meters, while classmate Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) was sixth at 27.42 meters. In the discus, sophomore Melissa Fongod (Corona, Calif.) was fourth at 36.69, while a toss of 34.62 meters from sophomore Miranda Owen (San Bernardino, Calif.) was good for eighth.

In the high jump, freshman Jordan Dennert (San Bernardino, Calif.) and junior Kaleigh Giannone (Menifee, Calif.) placed fourth and fifth respectively with leaps of 1.35 and 1.30 meters.

On the track, the Yotes had four top-five finishes in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and all four were personal bests. Dennert was second at 12:08.26, with junior Caty Gaynor (Claremont, Calif.) placing third at 12:18.43. In fourth was freshman Liana Brehm (Menifee, Calif.) at 12:30.92, while junior Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.) rounded out the top-five at 12:35.36.

In the 100 meter dash, a pair of Yotes went under 12 seconds. Junior Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.) placed second in the event at 11.84 seconds, while graduate student Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) set a PR with her fourth place finish of 11.93 seconds.

In the 200 meter, two more Coyotes scored points. Freshman Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.) was fifth at 25.97 seconds, with junior Sierra Stokes (Carson, Calif.) crossing the line in eighth at 26.18 seconds.

Junior Na'kel Pennix (Redlands, Calif.) had a strong showing for the Coyotes in the 400 meter run, placing third at 59.46 seconds, while senior Kyndahl Carter (Los Angeles, Calif.) placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles at 14.69 seconds. 

Rounding out CSUSB's scorers were distance runners Alexis Wallace (Orangevale, Calif.) and Helena Valdez (Riverside, Calif.), who placed fifth and seventh respectively in the 8,000 meter run.

The Coyotes will return to action next weekend with the two-day Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on Friday and Saturday.
