CLAREMONT, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's track & field competed on Saturday in the Rossi Relays, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Fritz B. Burns Stadium.
A school record fell in the discus throw, where junior
Dani Lister (Lake Forest, Calif.) had a heave of 44.30 meters to best her own program record from last season by nearly a full meter. She placed second in the event, with sophomore
Miranda Owen (San Bernardino, Calif.) placing seventh with a personal best of 37.32 meters.
Lister also posted a PR in the shot put, where she recorded a toss of 11.82 meters. Her mark was good for the second longest throw in CSUSB history.
In the hammer throw, junior
Elizabeth Rushing (Oakdale, Calif.) scored points for CSUSB with a fifth place finish, thanks to a toss of 45.94 meters.
Three jumpers scored points for the Yotes in three different events. Junior
Emily Nguyen (Westminster, Calif.) was sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.52 meters, while juniors
Kaleigh Giannone (Menifee, Calif.) and
Gabrielle Aguigui (Vacaville, Calif.) each placed seventh in the long jump at 4.72 meters and triple jump at 9.90 meters, respectively.
The Coyotes had four first place finishes over on the track, with one individual and three relay wins. Graduate student
Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) was involved in three of the four firsts for CSUSB, including a PR in the 100 meter dash, where she ran a time of 12.03 seconds.
Ackerman teamed up with
Kyndahl Carter (Los Angeles, Calif.),
Alexis White (San Bernardino, Calif.), and
Hailey Hunt (Winnetka, Calif.) for the first place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. The quartet ran a time of 46.51 seconds, the fourth best time in school history and an NCAA provisional mark.
Ackerman, freshman
Coryssa Hope (Riverside, Calif.), Hunt, and White were also the first place finishers in the sprint medley relay, setting a new program record at 1:45.98.
Mahlaya Salter (Chino, Calif.), Carter,
Sierra Stokes (Carson, Calif.), and
Na'kel Pennix (Redlands, Calif.) teamed up for a third place finish in the event with a time of 1:49.88, just .42 seconds slower than the previous program record set in 2022.
Pennix, Hope, Hunt, and White were the first place team in the 4x400 meter relay for the Coyotes. They combined for a time of 3:54.65, and all had splits under a minute.
Carter scored points for the Yotes with a third place finish in the 100 meter hurdles at 14.80 seconds, while graduate student
Alexis Wallace (Orangeville, Calif.) placed sixth in the 3,000 meter run, coming in with a time of 10:14.45.
Placing fifth in the 4x800 meter relay to earn points for CSUSB were
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.),
Hailey Lynk (Banning, Calif.),
Amanda Lynch (San Bernardino, Calif.), and
Joanna Lopez (Ontario, Calif.). They crossed the line in 10:09.51.
Cal State San Bernardino will be back in action on Friday when they travel down the road to the Riverside City Invitational, hosted by Riverside City College.
