VISTA, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team finished ninth at Fujikura Invitational, after competing in the third and final round Tuesday at Shadowridge Golf Club.
After team scores of seven-over 295 in the first round and one-over 289 in round two, the Coyotes turned in a team score of 306 on Tuesday in the final round.
Leading the Yotes in round three was sophomore Trent Fitzgerald (Santee, Calif.), who posted a one-over 73. Fitzgerald recorded three birdies on the front nine, including back-to-back birdies on the par-5 seventh and par-3 eighth.
CSUSB's second place finisher was junior Andres Navarro (Montebello, Calif.), who carded a four-over 76 on Tuesday. His lone birdie came on his first hole of the day, the par-4 11th hole. Classmate John Kim (Palm Desert, Calif.) was third, posting a five-over 77. He had birdies on the par-4 second and par-5 seventh.
Rounding out CSUSB's scorers was junior Chris Wardrup (La Quinta, Calif.). He posted an eight-over 80 on Tuesday afternoon. He notched a team-high five birdies on the day.
Freshman Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.) closed out the tournament with a final-round 92, while senior Cole Obrigewitsch (Deer Valley, Saskatchewan) posted a three-over 75 while competing as an individual.
The Yotes will return to action by hosting the Battle in the Desert, starting on February 26 at Rams Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs, Calif..
