ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The CSUSB men's golf team closed out the 2022-2023 season in the NCAA West/South Central Regional, finishing 13
th out of 20 teams. This is nearly identical to their 12
th place finish in the regionals last season, when they traveled to Pueblo, Colorado. On a challenging 72-par course in Rohnert Park, none of the 20 teams competing in this year's regional finished below par. In fact, Western Washington and Sonoma State tied for first place, each shooting three-over.
Jetty Sivongsay led the Yotes, shooting +5 over the three rounds. After shooting five-over on the first day, Sivongsay reached par in both the second and third rounds to finish tied for 37th. The CCAA All-Tournament team honoree also finished sixth in Par 3 scoring, shooting even.
Sivongsay's teammate,
Jacob Calderon, led the entire field of 108 golfers on Par 3 holes, finishing at -5. In total, Calderon finished tied for 51
st - shooting eight over par across all three rounds.
John Kim also finished eight over par, while being the only golfer from CSUSB to finish a round below par at 71.
Senior
Mark Williams finished second on the team at T-46
thon the individual leaderboard, staying consistent with scores of 75, 75, and 73.
Bryan Saw rounded out the five for the Yotes, placing T-76
th individually at +12.
Head coach
Kyle Emerson lead the Yotes to five top-five finishes and ten top-ten finishes this season, including a second-place finish at the Battle in the Desert.
Mark Williams was named First Team All-CCAA and
John Kim was named All-CCAA Honorable Mention.
