CHICO, Calif. – After a strong start, the CSUSB women's basketball team fell to Chico State in the second game of their NorCal trip.
Early pressure from the Yotes force four Chico State turnovers. Great ball movement gave the Yotes a lead of 10 points in the first quarter.
Samantha Henley led with six points, two rebounds and one block.
A big momentum shift came in the second. After a fastbreak, a foul and two 3-pointers, the Wildcats tied the game 22-22. Both teams battled for the lead, but it was
Deja Blue hitting a reverse-pivot to put the Yotes up by two. There was a pair of lead changes throughout the rest of the half with Chico State getting the upper hand and going up 31-30 at the half.
Chico State's defense was solid. They kept the Yotes to eight points in the third – six of those coming from free throws. A five-and-a-half minute scoring drought by the Yotes sealed the deal in the fourth. With a final score of 56-67, Chico State gave the Yotes their sixth loss with a deficit of 10 points or more. The Yotes are now 3-7 in conference play.
Olivia Lee led the team in scoring with 12 point and had two rebounds.
Destiny Jackson went 3-5 from the FT line, finishing with 11 points and five rebounds.
