SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – San Bernardino native helps lead team to their first home win since December, improving their record to 9-8.
Mia Dufresne went 3-5 from the field and put up 2 free throws to lead both the Seawolves and Yotes in scoring in the entire first quarter. In a tight game, six Yotes turnovers proved to be the difference in giving the home team a lead, with the Seawolves going up 11-10.
After a short scoring run by Sonoma State,
Deja Blue got a defensive rebound and put up a layup to tie the game at 15, giving her three points and four total rebounds in her return to The Den.
Tatianna Russell was perfect in the second, scoring 10 points in a full 10 minutes.
The third mimicked the second, a quarter differentiated by a margin of no more than 3 for the majority of gameplay.
Tori Guzman's offensive game in the fourth quarter pushed the Yotes to victory. Her 12 points on the night made her the second scoring leader for the Yotes through the game. In the final minutes she sank a trey to put the Yotes ahead by one. She would add to that score with a made free throw, a steal and a layup to make the score 56-60.
The final score of this game was 65-58 with the Yotes having nine different point scorers throughout the night. Russell scored her second most points this season with 15, leading both teams in point totals. Blue finished with nine points, seven rebounds and three assists.
