VARIOUS SITES – The CSUSB track and field program has been busy the past two weeks, racking up more school records and CCAA marks.
Most recently at the Point Loma Collegiate Invitational, Jordan Munford opened her season taking first in the 100m hurdles at 14.35, setting a new school record and the fastest mark in the CCAA this season. Munford went on to finish seventh in the 200 meters at 25.97 and fifth in the 4x100 relay with Destiny Colton, Dymonde Cleveland, and Maya Price at 48.86. Those marks were third and fourth all-time on the CSUSB lists.
Colton was also ninth in the long jump at 17.5 feet, a new school record.
Giselle Sanchez took second in the 5000 meters at 18:58.36 and Michelle Pineda Palacios was ninth in the 800 meters at 2:21.47, followed by Miranda Avila in 14th at 2:24.79. Those times were fourth and ninth all-time at CSUSB.
Price had a nice event as well, in addition to the relay, she was fifth in the high jump at 1.57 meters and 11th in the 100 meters at 12.78, where Colton finished 16th at 12.98.
Arianna Fuentes was seventh in the 1500 meters at 4:45.16 and Kaylie Balvaneda was 13th at 4:49.39, third and seventh all-time at CSUSB. Finally, Avila, Michelle Arevalo, Alexis Espinosa, and Savannah Milner were eighth at 4:11.86 in the 4x400 relay.
Tori Wiley finished 15th on Thursday and Friday in the heptathlon at the UC Riverside Invite. Her best finish was fourth in the javelin at 99 feet, 11 inches.
A week earlier at the RCC Open at Riverside Community College, in the 100 meters Tylin Sands took third at 12.38 and Price as fourth at 12.48. Fuentes took first in the 1500 meters at 4:53.53, ninth all-time at CSUSB. The 4x400 meter relay team of Arevalo, Avila, Espinosa, and Milner was fourth at 4:14.12, 10th at CSUSB.
In the field, Valentina Sanabria set another school record at 35 feet, 2.5 inches, in the triple jump, runner-up in the event. Colton set a school record in the long jump at 16 feet, 10.5 inches, runner-up in the event. Sanabria was fourth at 16 feet, 7.25 inches, fourth all-time at CSUSB.
Victoria Soto took 10th in the shot put at 32 feet, 9.75 inches, fifth all-time at CSUSB. The Coyotes keep rolling forward this weekend at the California Collegiate Open at UCSD on Saturday.
