SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes kicked off their 2019 Championship Season this Monday and Tuesday, battling the course and rain at the CSUSB Fujukura Invitational at Shadowridge Country Club.
The event was shorted from 54 holes to 36 holes because of rain, but Cody Hall wasn't affected, as he went two-under par to finish in fourth among 80 golfers, just two strokes off the lead. After going +2 in the first round, he fired six birdies in the second round, including four on the back nine two erase two bogeys on that nine. He had an error free front nine with two birdies.
Mark Williams finished in 34th place for the Coyotes, who took 11th overall, going +9. Octavio Guzman, Sacha Barbarin, and Brandon Steffins all finished in 67th at +15.
As a team the Yotes rolled home 26 birdies, good for second in the field. Hall led the tournament going seven-under on the par-five holes, three strokes better than anyone else. His 10 birdies also led the field.
The Yotes will take a week off from competition and return with their own tournament on February 18 and 19 at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont. Admission is free and open to fans.
