BEAUMONT, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes placed two in the top-10 and finished fourth at their home tournament, the CSUSB Coyote Classic, Monday and Tuesday, at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.
Brandon Steffins and Octavio Guzman tied for seventh at +2, both shooting under par after the first round. Steffins rolled home 12 birdies over the course of the event, with two eagles in his second round 69. Guzman scored 11 birdies over the two days, including five in his round two 71. Not far behind in 15th at +4 was Cody Hall who had 10 birdies.
The Yotes led the field in birdies with 49 and Steffins' two eagles were tops in the event. The individual winner was Ryan Bisharat of CSU San Marcos at -8 and Colorado School of Mines won the team trophy at +11.
"I didn't have a great start but was able to pull it together the last two rounds," Steffins said. "No one will ever complain about a 69/71, but disappointed we couldn't win the team title, but we will get back at it."
Next up for the Yotes is the SoCal Intercollegiate hosted by UC San Diego on March 4 at Carlton Oaks Country Club. Live results will be available on CSUSBathletics.com.
