SAN BERNARDINO (April 9, 2017) — A 2-0 Coyotes lead was negated when visiting Sonoma State scored four runs on one hit in the fourth in CSUSB's 7-4 loss in CCAA baseball Sunday afternoon at Fiscalini Field
The Coyotes (9-25, 8-16 CCAA) take on nonconference Concordia-Irvine on Tuesday night at home before going on the road Friday to Turlock in a CCAA series against the Stanislaus State Warriors.
Lucas Martinez earned a pair of runs batted in — the first on a sacrifice bunt in the first, and a run-scoring single in the third — that gave CSUSB its 2-0 lead.
But SSU got the lead for good in the fourth off Coyotes RHP
Matthew Moriarty, who hit a batter and then walked three straight Seawolves. SSU got another run on a bases-loaded walk from reliever
Noah Simon, and Daniel Caresio delivered a two-run single for a 4-2 SSU lead.
Grant St. Martin pushed SSU's lead to 5-2 on a home run over the center-field wall in the fifth. CSUSB answered with two of its own in the fifth, thanks to
Austin Lundeen's double to left center that brought in Martinez (double) and
Dillon Fahr (single).
Consecutive sac flys in the seventh for SSU ended the scoring for both teams.
Tyler Robles, Fahr, Martinez and Lundeen all had two hits.
Moriarty fell to 1-5. He struck out four, walked four and allowed four hits.
