IRVINE (April 18, 2017) — CSUSB struck with two runs in the ninth, and pushed three across in the ninth for a 7-4 win over Concordia-Irvine in nonconference baseball Tuesday afternoon.
The Coyotes snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 11-28 overall. CUI dropped to 18-18.
CSUSB took the four-game series against the Eagles (3-1) with a stellar effort in the ninth. Down 4-2,
Jordan Simon led off with a walk. He advanced to second on a single from freshman
Dominic Campeau.
Lucas Martinez pushed his teammates an extra base on a sac bunt.
Two batters later and with two outs,
A.J. Duran tied the game on a single to left.
In the 10th, Simon delivered a one-out single down the left-field line that brought in
Damion Edmonds (walk). Campeau followed with a run-scoring single to left, and one out later,
Austin Lundeen connected on a single to right center that scored Simon and CSUSB led 7-4.
The Coyotes out-hit the Eagles 16-5.
Dillon Fahr went 4-for-6 with two runs scored, and Lundeen and Campeau each had two hits.
On the mound, reliever
Brian Conley pushed his record to 2-1 with three innings of one-hit, shutout ball. He struck out three.
