IRVINE (March 29, 2017) — Concordia's Josh Balbuena connected on a one-out, run-scoring single in the ninth as the Eagles handed the Coyotes a 7-6 loss in nonconference baseball Wednesday afternoon.
CSUSB, now 7-21 overall, returns to CCAA play this weekend with three games at San Francisco State.
Dillon Fahr set the tone for the Coyotes when he led off the game with a triple to center. One batter later, Fahr scored on
A.J. Duran's single. Duran scored on a single from
Daniel Romo and CSUSB led 2-0 before the Eagles had a chance to bat.
The Coyotes extended their lead to 5-3 in the sixth with three runs on two hits.
Tyler Robles drove in Kristian De La Torre (double) on a single to right.
Andrew Jurado gave CSUSB a 6-4 lead in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to left that scored
Damion Edmonds, who led off with a walk.
But CUI scored twice in the eighth to tie the game before its ninth-inning heroics.
Dominic Campeau also doubled for CSUSB.
Konner Arnold took the loss in his one-third of an inning effort in the ninth.
CSUSB stranded 12 runners on base.
