SAN FRANCISCO (April 1, 2017) — Damion Edmonds broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single in the seventh and the Coyotes went to defeat host San Francisco State 5-2 in the second game of a CCAA baseball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Mahoney Field.
The Coyotes (8-22, 7-13 CCAA) and Gators (8-22, 5-15) complete their three-game weekend series at 11 a.m. Sunday.
CSUSB connected on 13 hits and swatted four extra-base hits.
Leadoff hitter
Tyler Robles went 3-for-5 with a double that began the game. He later scored on a
Lucas Martinez single.
Austin Lundeen had an RBI in the fourth.
After Edmonds came through in the seventh, CSUSB scored twice in the eighth.
Dominic Campeau had an RBI-double and Lundeen added a sac fly.
Reliever
Austin Casillas earned the win and improved to 2-0. He entered in the sixth and struck out two.
Brian Conley got the save. SFSU loaded the bases in the ninth, but Conley got Connor Fidone to fly out to end the game.
Dillon Fahr, Martinez and
Daniel Romo all had two hits.
In the opener, SFSU's Andrew Najeeb-Brush threw a three-hit shutout and handed the Coyotes a 4-0 defeat.
Lucas Martinez had two of the Coyotes' three hits. CSUSB had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth.
