AZUSA (Feb. 9, 2017) — Austin Lundeen connected on a lead-off home run in the opener, and
Dillon Fahr had a pair of hits in the second game as CSUSB was swept by host Azusa Pacific 8-5 and 7-2 in nonconference baseball Thursday.
The Coyotes (0-7 overall) and Cougars (5-1) complete their four-game series at 10 a.m. Friday at APU.
Game 1: APU 8, Coyotes 5
Tyler Van Marter gave CSUSB a 3-2 lead on a two-run single to center in the second that scored
Lucas Martinez (hit by pitch) and
Daniel Romo (single).
But APU scored three runs in the third and fifth for the lead.
Romo, Lundeen and Van Marter all had two hits.
Game 2: APU 7, Coyotes 2
Lundeen and Fahr each doubled for CSUSB, which fell behind 3-1 after one in the seven-inning game.
A.J. Duran and Van Marter each had RBI for CSUSB.
Graham Kuck faced just three batters in the first inning and was handed the loss.
