AZUSA (Feb. 10, 2017) — A rough first inning put the Coyotes in an early hole in their 10-1 loss to Azusa Pacific in the series finale Friday afternoon in nonconference baseball.
CSUSB lost its eighth straight and now has 13 days off before beginning CCAA play Feb. 23 at Cal State L.A.
Starter
Esteban Lizaola faced seven batters in the first inning and issued three walks and gave up three hits, six runs (all earned) in one-third of an inning.
All told, nine of the 10 Cougars' runs were earned.
Daniel Romo,
Austin Lundeen and
Jordan Simon had two apiece.
The Coyotes broke up the Cougars' shutout bid in the seventh.
Eli Zaragoza earned an RBI on a ground-out that scored Simon.
Nick Estrella homered twice for APU.
