ARCATA (Sept. 16, 2016) — The fourth time was the charm for senior
Eric Lavery and it made the Coyotes victorious Friday afternoon.
The Harrisburg, Pa., native earned a free kick after a foul in the 78th minute and it paid off when it crossed the goal line for CSUSB's 1-0 win over host Humboldt State in the CCAA opener for both teams.
CSUSB won its third straight game — the longest winning streak in two seasons — and takes a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 CCAA slate into Sunday's game at Sonoma State.
Eight Coyotes totaled a shot against the HSU defense, and all four of Lavery's attempts were SOG.
Hieu Ngo had two SOG.
Freshman GK
Jacob Huber secured five saves – three in the second half – for his third straight win and second shutout on the season.
HSU dropped to 2-2, 0-1.
