NAPA (April 18, 2016) -- Jake Meloche led the Coyotes' efforts during the stroke play portion of the CCAA Tournament, finishing 11th at Silverado Resort and Spa on Monday.
Meloche fired a 1-over-par 145 with rounds of 74 and 71 on the par-72, 6,813-yard course. Highlighting his opening round was an eagle on the par-5, 536-yard No. 5. He finished the tourney 4-under on the par-5s.
Unfortunately, the Coyotes tied for eighth with UC San Diego in the nine-team tournament. CSUSB had rounds of 300 and 298 for a 22-over 598.
Taylor Hood (74-76) and
Greg Robarge (77-73) tied for 24th at 6-over 150.
Jake Williams tied for 38th at 10-over 154 (76-78) and
Jordan Guillen 40th 76-79_155) in the 45-golfer tournament.
Chico State (572), Stanislaus State (585), Cal State East Bay (589) and Sonoma State (590) qualify for the team portion of the tournament with the winner earning the CCAA NCAA tournament bid.Â
Adam Stone of Cal State East Bay won the individual medalist honors in a playoff.
CSUSB now awaits the NCAA tourney announcement Friday. The Coyotes were ranked eighth in the three regular-season regional polls. The top 10 in the West Region and top 10 in the South Central advance to the super-regional held at Las Cruces, N.M. in two weeks.
